Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is a set of specifications from Microsoft and it is used to get information about your computer system or network. Say for example if you want to get the information about the physical disks and logical disks at are available on your system, you can very well find it with the help of the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).
WMI is been installed on almost all the computers which has Windows Millennium Me), Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003. It can also be downloaded for computers that are using the old Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 operating systems. WMI provides the users information about regarding the status of the local or remote network computer systems. Moreover, WMI also tend to support actions related to sytem security settings and other changing system properties for authorized users. The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is very much useful to the systems managers and system administrators in an organization.
